Three NextMGT Researchers Receive Best Paper Award from Turbo Expo 2023 Conference

In a remarkable achievement for the NextMGT project, three early-stage researchers (ESRs) have been honored with the prestigious Best Paper Award from Turbo Expo 2023 Conference. The recognition underscores their outstanding contributions to the field of micro gas turbine (MGT) technology and innovation.
The winning papers, both accessible through open access, delve into cutting-edge topics shaping the future of MGT systems. The first paper, titled “Optimizing Micro Gas Turbine Operation in a Microgrid System With Natural Gas and Hydrogen Fuel: An AI-Based Approach,” features the work of ESR Reyhaneh. This research explores the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) techniques to optimize the operation of micro gas turbines within microgrid systems fueled by natural gas and hydrogen. The innovative approach presented in the paper holds significant promise for enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of energy generation in distributed power systems.
The second paper, titled “A Methodology to Quantify Product Competitiveness and Innovation Requirements for Micro Gas Turbine Systems in Hydrogen Backup Applications,” involves the collaborative efforts of ESRs Giuseppe Tilocca and Antonio Escamilla.
