ESR14 Hasan Huseyin Uslu at IESolutions
During the secondment at IESolutions in Genoa, Hasan Huseyin Uslu did a collaboration under the supervision of Prof. Federico Silvestro, working with Andrea Vinci, Gabriele Mosaico and Matteo Saviozzi. IESolutions Soluzioni Intelligenti per l’Energia is a spin off company of the University of Genoa, operating since 2005 in the field of energy saving and energy efficiency.
Based on the competencies of the company and the topic of the PhD project, a possible collaboration idea were discussed about a virtual power plant consisting of micro gas turbines using real time monitoring data. Within this scope, such a solution is simulated as a system consisting of micro gas turbines for combined heat and power purposes. Real time electricity demand data of University of Genoa with 15 minutes resolution from 16 consumption points is used for this study. Learning optimization methodologies and tools are the main outcomes of the secondment whereas the electricity market structure in Italy and tariff mechanisms are the other outcomes. In addition, a collaborative paper has been submitted for the ASME Turbo Expo 2022 with the colleagues from the secondment company involved.
