At first, Angelos visited the Engines Plant where the company provides Depot Level Maintenance services on a wide variety of aviation engines (turbojet, turboshaft, turboprop, turbofan and reciprocating engines). He also observed Material Evaluation of the carbon fiber components which are used for research purposes. During his secondment, he collaborated with Kostas Eleutheriou (ESR5) who was carrying out his secondment in HAI at the same period. Their work involved 3D measurements of the centrifugal compressors used in the PW123af aircraft engine. Their goal is to perform CFD analysis on these geometries, convert them to contra-rotating compressors and carry out a sensitivity analysis by including them in an mGT cycle.
