ESR4 Ravi Nath Tiwari at NORCE
Ravi Nath Tiwari successfully completed his second secondment at the NORCE Norwegian Research Centre AS in Stavanger Norway. Under the supervision of Chief Scientist Peter Breuhaus, Mr. Tiwari undertook the work in collaboration with NextMGT ESR 3 Mr. Angelos Gaitanis, who is currently working on the two-spool micro gas turbine systems. During his time at Stavnger, Mr. Tiwari developed a very good understanding of explosives under Peter Berhaus’s guidance. The first thing he was introduced to was the NORCE laboratory and its surrounding environment. His research focused during his secondment on the impact of fuel flexibility (natural gas, biogas, syngas, and hydrogen) on the performance of two-spool MGT system. As a result, he performed the following actions.
- There was a study conducted at different levels of syngas production with different percentages of chemical composition, specifically the presence of hydrogen in syngas produced by the combustion of wood chips.
- Modeling of combustion chambers was performed with the collaboration of NextMGT ESR-3
- This study analyzes the impact of several fuels (natural gas, syngas, and hydrogen) on the performance of MGT.
- CO2 emissions were analyzed using 100% natural gas and a mix of fuels.
He analyzed his result on the 100kW, 200 kW and 400 kW electrical outpot of two-spool MGT where he obtained the maximum electrical efficiency around 40% with 75% syngas and hydrogen.
