After an initial visit to the power plant and the UNIGE “Innovative Energy System Laboratory” located
inside the Tirreno Power area, the main topics covered in the secondment were:
• Review of Capacity Remuneration Mechanism issued in the Italian Market and of regulatory
schemes for pilot projects for additional sources of flexibility. Focus on evolution on RES and
Storage regulation.
• General aspects of the hydroelectric production in Italy and its impact on local communities.
Insights on the operations of hydroelectric power, including Storage and production.
• Commercial relationships between large energy producers and CCGT OEMs and comparisons
with the MGT case.
• Evaluation of the equipment competitiveness, vendor rating and product fitness-to-application
from the buyer perspective.
